What We’re doing for The Big Little Tent Festival 2021
This past year has been an awful year on so many levels, but we’ve also had some good times as well. Spending time in our own little bubble, doing our own thing at a leisurely pace has definitely been the highlight. We were delighted to be invited to take part in The Big Little Tent Festival, and so can you.
We’ve done loads of stuff including setting up a cafe for afternoon tea, made a sweet shop, had many a lounge disco and I’ve lost count of how many Movie nights we’ve had over the last year. One thing that the kids have always pestered us to do is go camping. I sit firmly in the ‘anti-camping camp’ but could be persuaded to give glamping a go at some point.
The Big Little Tent Festival
The Big Little Tent Festival set up by the Caravan Club last year is a way of grabbing a little piece of camp life in the comfort of your own home. Set up a tent in your garden or, like us you could set up camp in your living room and join in the fun.
Champions of the great outdoors, the Caravan and Motorhome Club represents the interests of over one million caravanners, motorhomes, and trailer tent owners across the UK. Founded in 1907, the Caravan and Motorhome Club has 111 years experience and prides itself on offering great value and high-quality sites for caravanners and motorhomers.
Caravan and Motorhome Club membership is just £54 per year and provides members with access to 2700 quality sites in the UK and overseas.
The Club also offers a choice of 300 sites across Europe including France, Spain, and Germany amongst other destinations. All members can take advantage of expert advice, overseas travel services, cover, and insurance, and exclusive member offers and discounts.
In addition, the Club offers a choice of glamping pods, yurts, camping pods, tent camping plus a motorhome and Airstream hire scheme available to non-members through its Experience Freedom operation. To find out more, visit www.experiencefreedom.co.uk

Download your FREE Festival Pack and be entered to WIN Two Kids Raleigh Bikes
To join in the festival there is a Festival Downloadable Pack that contains everything you need to bring the festival to you, including a checklist of things you will need, festival wristbands, bunting templates as well as a whole host of activity ideas which you could easily spread out over a few days. There’s even a chance to win two Childs Raleigh bikes and Vango Tyfan Tent.
Setting up Camp
So as we don’t own any actual camping gear, we’re going to set up camp in our living room with all our home comforts which are very appealing from my point of view. We’ve got blankets, duvets, cushions, and pillows that we’re going to make into our own little cozy cocoon. Isabelle is planning to sleep there, but I’m not so sure that she will make it all night. We’ve also got lights and have printed and coloured in the bunting from the pack all ready. We’re going to get festival-ready with hair chalks, face paint, and an anything-goes dress code.
You could of course drag out your entire camping kit and set up in your garden. The Festival is running over Easter weekend with an action-packed schedule including a Zoom Party where you can meet the Mermaid Princess and the Friendly Neighbourhood Hero for games, superhero training, and a campfire song!
Pop over to the Caravan and Motorhome Facebook page and click on the events tab and there you will find the Big Little Tent Festival’s full schedule for the weekend starting with The Big Little Adventurers Quiz at 12 pm on Saturday 3rd April.
Our Festival Menu
So thinking along the lines of food we would probably buy should we be in a real-life festival, we thought we’d go for hotdogs, cheesy chips, and corn on the cob (Isabelle insisted) followed by our own version of S’mores and popcorn.
As well as the planned live events happening over Easter weekend, there are lots of other suggestions in the Festival Pack which will help to keep your little ones busy this weekend. Isabelle really loves word searches and puzzles, so she’ll be snaffling those away, and Freddie and I are going to give leaf pictures and play the garden bingo during one of our dog walks.
