Looking for Kid’s Subscription Boxes? Have a look at the Best 4

4 of the Best Kid's Subscription boxes for kids on the market at the moment

Build-Ur-Bricks

We all know that LEGO sets are quite expensive these days and especially those sets which are inspired by blockbuster movies like Harry Potter and Star Wars. No doubt that they are fun and exciting to build but once build, you are more likely to lose their pieces or lock them in a storeroom somewhere, now this is the moment where Build-Ur-Bricks plays its role and offers you the best option. They offer you to get your children LEGO sets without even purchasing them, you just need to return the set once you’re done with it. The interesting thing is that all of the pieces are cleaned professionally before their next delivery and their user-friendly website makes it easier to order yours now.

Pop in a Box

Pop in a Box is a subscription service that offers you a vast range of Funko Pops collectible figures, exclusive releases, and a lot more at a very reasonable price. They offer you multiple options to take a start such as you can receive 1 pop a month and it will cost you £8.49 + P&P. You can also upgrade your subscription plan to 12 pops a month. They guarantee you that there are no secret handshakes and you can pause or cancel your subscription anytime. This is one of the best subscriptions for all those collectors out there. The thing which we love about Pop in a Box is that their customer service is so friendly and are always there to help you.

Brainboost

Brainboost is a bit different from the above-mentioned subscription boxes as they approach you with different creative and educational boxes.  They offer you boxes for children of all ages from 2 to 12 years old. They assure you that with their subscription you will see a noticeable difference in your child’s development and there’s no commitment so you can pause or cancel your subscription anytime you want.

toucanBox

This is a subscription box that was developed by some educational experts and each month they deliver a box right at your doorsteps and allow your kid to learn something new with the play. They present every single box beautifully and it’s full of books and materials that will surely help your children to build and develop curious and critical thinking. toucanBox helps you to build a strong bond with your children with their new projects every month.

Trying New Recipes with Hello Fresh

Trying New Recipes with Hello Fresh

After months and months of seeing posts on meal subscription boxes, we finally took the plunge and ordered our first Hello Fresh box a couple of weeks ago.

I got a referral code from a fellow blogger so that she received a discount off her next order which is quite a nice thing to do.

You can sign up via the website or via the App (iphone and Android). I downloaded the App which is so easy to use.

The choice of meals is really good, and there are several different categories to suit your palette including Family Recipes, Quick Meals and Chef’s choice.

How does it work?

When you first download the App you will be asked for your preferences. Ours are family meals and quick meals which as a busy Mum takes the hassle out of looking for new recipes that both kids will eat and we will enjoy also. You select the number of people the meals are for. There are four of us, but Freddie doesn’t eat very much and Chris has quite large portions so we opted for the four people. Then you pick how many recipes you want per week. We opted for three and then the rest of the week we eat relatively simple meals. I’ve started to meal plan which works so well for us, and reduces the food shopping bill as well as my sanity at having to come up with seven meals each week. Choose your delivery date and enter your payment details. It’s as simple as that! All of the food comes already portioned into the exact amount that you need for the recipe. The meat and chilled products come in a separate insultated bag with cool packs and the remaining ingredients come in numbered brown paper bags each relating to the correct recipe card. The cards are really easy to follow and can be kept to use time and again.

Choosing what to eat

This is the fun part. It’s like ordering from a menu. If you don’t make a selection one week, it will be made for you based on the preferences you have chosen which could be a nice way to try something new. Otherwise you just log into you app and make your weekly meal choices. I’ve included Belle in the meal selection as she’s become quite particular about what she eats reently which is hopefully just a phase.

Are you locked into the subscription?

Absolutely not. You can pause the subscription whenever you want and reinstate it again when you’re ready. So if you’re going on holiday you would pause for the duration, but you could change the delivery date so that you get a box the day that you get back when there’s usually nothing in the fridge.

What about all the packaging?

This was one of the things that I had thought about before placing an order. As everything comes pre-measured there are a lot of little sachets and plastic packaging to enable this to reach our door as fresh as it can be BUT Hello Fresh have obviously thought all of this through and you can read about there commitment to sustainability and reduced carbon foot print here. Receiving your ingredients individually portioned means a reduction in food waste which is a huge thumbs up.

Our thoughts

I love it! I love a subscription box or service and the time it saves me constantly looking for new ideas to feed the family. Our first box was discounted, and there are always lots of discounts around for new customers. We thought that the price of the boxes after the initial discount was a little bit pricey, but having said that, the rest of the week we eat relatively simple meals such as pasta, jacket potatoes and salads so it evens out the cost of the shopping.

We’ve had three deliveries so far and there’s only two meals that we’ve enjoyed all the meals except maybe a couple of dishes. One was a pasta dish that just didn’t have enough flavour for us and the other was lovely but took a lot longer to make than the recipe card stated.

This post isn’t an #AD in any way as we are paying for this subscription ourselves, but if you would like to try a box and get a £42 discout (essentially a FREE box) then send me a DM through Instagram for the code.

ToucanBox Review

I’m totally loving the concept of subscription boxes. Choose the box of your choice, set up a payment plan, and then BAM, every month a box appears through the post full of lovely goodies. Boxes range from everything from make-up, feel-good boxes and I’ve even seen some foodie-type boxes.

Isabelle loves to make things, colour, cut, draw, stick so we’ve built up quite a good craft collection and often use Pinterest for inspiration.

Toucan Box

We spotted toucanBox a few months ago which is perfect for Isabelle’s age range so when the opportunity to review the boxes came up we jumped at it.

toucanBox is aimed at children between 3 – 8 years. Each box comes with the complete kit and instructions to complete a crafty project.

There are three choices of subscription

  • Petite – contains one project and is shipped fortnightly
  • Grande – contains two themed projects and a reading book and are shipped monthly
  • Super Boxes – contains four themed projects and are shipped monthly

Payments are made when you first place the order and then monthly after that. There are no ties so you can cancel your subscription at any time and if you are away there’s even an option to pause your boxes and set them to come once you return.

toucanBox is addressed to your child which is lovely as all kids like to get post!

There’s a cool quiz that you can do on the site to find out your child’s personality. I did mine based on Isabelle and it came back with her being a Creator which I would totally agree with.

Isabelle is always making things. If she’s not drawing then she’s cutting things up or sticking things together.

So let’s get stuck in.

A little girl holding a toucan box and smiling

Isabelle was very excited to get the toucanBox through the post with her own name on it. I love the fact that it fits through the letter box so no waiting in or delivery cards through the door if you’re out.

Poor Isabelle is full of a cold in this video but doing some craft cheered her up.

I love that you get everything included to make the project including a glue stick and crayons. You could easily pop one of these in your bag and take it on a train journey or away on holiday in case of rain.

What we got in our box – Treasure Map & Parrot Partner

As explained in the video the box contained:

  • A tea bag
  • Paper
  • A paintbrush
  • Stickers
  • Crayons
  • A Cardboard Parrot
  • Feathers
  • A Glue Stick
  • A wiggly eye
  • A Jumbo Lolly Stick

The instructions were very clear and even tell you the difficulty and messiness rating as well as some cool pirate facts. There was also a sheet with ideas on pirate-themed games once the project is complete.

First of all, we had to make a cup of tea – perfect.

Crumpled up piece of white paper

Crumple the paper into a ball and then flatten it. I should have taken a picture of Isabelle as she did this as she was quite surprised as I usually tell her off for wasting paper and screwing it up.

A girl painting paper with tea for staining

Using the cup of tea (no milk, no sugar), paint the piece of paper and set aside to dry.

Whilst the paper is drying, colour the parrot with the crayons.

Then add the feathers to make your parrot. Isabelle was starting to get tired again as she was a poorly girl but making this made the day bearable and fun for both of us.

Once the paper was dry, add the stickers to create your Treasure Map.

Mila & Pheebs Kids Activity Box – A review

Mila & Pheebs Kids Activity Box Review – Part 2

We were squealy excited to be sent a further Mila & Pheebs Kids Activity Box through the post. Crafting definitely plays a huge part in our lives. Making something together post-dinner time has become a bit of a regular routine for us which gives us something nice to do after work/school.

MIla & Pheebs Kids Activity Box

I didn’t tell Isabelle that she was getting another box as she drives us totally insane when she knows something is coming through the post. She thinks that it’s going to appear at the door five minutes after it’s been ordered. It was a lovely surprise when it arrived, and I think I was just as excited to know what was inside as Isabelle was.

I did wonder whether this box was going to beat the previous Activity Box that we received, but we weren’t at all disappointed.

What was in the box?

  • Safari Criss Cross
  • Safari Colouring-in sheets
  • Lion Eraser
  • Safari Dotty Art
  • Safari Pencil
  • Safari Memo Pad
  • Safari Wordsearch
  • Safari Greeting Cards
  • Safari Foil Stickers
  • Parrot Collage Kit
  • Safari Scissors

Isabelle’s favourite piece in the box was the scissors. She was so excited to get her own pair of scissors. Doubly so that they had monkeys and bananas on them!

So over to Isabelle who will walk you through what she got in the box.

As you can see, she was thoroughly impressed with all of the things that she got in the box, especially the monkey scissors.

I’ve sneaked the colouring sheets and activity sheets to put away for Isabelle to do on the plane when we go on holiday next month.

There isn’t a single thing in the box that Isabelle wasn’t excited about or looking forward to making.

Value for Money

There are various options for the subscription boxes as well as various payment options. As well as the monthly subscription boxes you can get one-off themed boxes including Birthday, Superhero, Unicorn, and Fun on the Farm just to name a few.
