My Goals for 2018

My goals for 2018

It somehow doesn’t feel right for me to write New Years Resolutions since everyone seems to fail miserably at these so I’m going to write my goals for 2018 instead.

My Goals for 2018

Stop Procrastinating

This applies to work and life. I’ve got to start not only setting goals and to-do items, but to actually tick them off the list. There’s loads of things that I want/dream of doing but then don’t……….No more. Bring it on!

Decluttering

We have years worth of stuff that we no longer have use for or are too small (clothes). I’m going to tackle this bit by bit by selling some stuff, donating some to charity and sorting stuff for the tip/recycling centre. I’ve got a separate list for this and have already sorted two bags of clothes for the charity shop. Added onto this is a bit of DIY with shelving etc so that we have actual home for all of our stuff.

Blogging consistently

My blogging is a bit haphazard of late. I’m going to put this down to the early stages of pregnancy which seems to have taken over me for the last couple of months. I am writing a weekly pregnancy diary which I’m enjoying. It will be good fun to read back on what a miserable cow I was at the beginning stages. My aim is to post twice a week to start with and anything more will be a bonus.

Making some money

With a baby due at the beginning of June I need to focus on making some cash so that I can enjoy my maternity leave. I’m hoping to have a year off work but we’ll see how things are going. Any suggestions welcome.

Saving some money

With two kids already there is always reasons why we can’t save money. A total cop out as I think we could achieve this if we stop and think about what/how we’re spending our money. I’m going to open up a savings account. I’ve already made a budget spreadsheet with all bills listed. I’m going to go through this to see what we can get rid of or reduce. I’ve also joined a Facebook group where tips and suggestions are made for saving money.

Learn to drive

Hmm at 36 I’m still a non-driver. This has never bothered me before but recently it’s become really annoying that it takes so long to get to places on public transport. The weather I think has made me think this way. It’s been miserable with loads of rain in Devon lately so it doesn’t really give you the get up and go to go out. I can drive (well I hope I can still remember) back when I was pregnant with Isabelle (seems to be a pattern) but I got too big and then when I went for my test when I’d only slept for about two hours I failed and ditched it. Time to get back on the horse!

Take time for myself

I’m really bad at this. I work four days a week and work in my blog every evening. If I sort out the procrastinating and limit things to scheduled time slots then I should be able to fit in some time for things like face packs, doing my nails and having a bath. I’m not asking for the world but a little bit of home pampering would be nice. I’m also looking into pregnancy yoga since I’ve not got gestational diabetes I’m going to be planning as smooth a labour as possible. It may also help with the back ache that keeps creeping in at the moment.

Making time for each other

Chris’ job means that he’s not at home most evenings so some days I go to work just as he’s waking up and I’m in bed when he gets home. We don’t do much talking or spending time together other than sitting watching a bit of TV together. I hate the term ‘ date nights’ but I succumb to it and think we should start taking it in turn to arrange nights out or nights in minus our phones.

Being more social

I’m not very good at this so I’m going to make much more of an effort so that I have people away from work and home maybe just to have a good old moan with. Isabelle has some lovely friends as well so I’m going to make much more of an effort to make play dates for her to have time with her friends.

I think I’m going to leave it at that since overall they are quite big, plus if I make too many I’m more likely to fail.

What goals do you have for 2018? Let me know in the comments.

  1. I seriously need to do some decluttering too. We have just moved house and it was the perfect opportunity to lean down our belongings. I did some great culling, but there is still a lot to shift. I have a big pile of things to advertise to sell as well, but haven’t got around to doing it yet!! Kx

  2. Great ideas for 2018! I am the world’s biggest procrastinator – I always get the job done, but always at the last minute! haha Definitely need to take more time for yourself – as they say “happy mummy, happy kids”!…

  3. Gosh apart from learning to drive I need to have these as goals myself. I am full of self doubt, very unsociable and i don’t blog consistently at all! Good luck with your 2018 goals.

  4. Iโ€™m terrified to start up driving again. I think Iโ€™ve left it too late confidence wise x

  5. Itโ€™s awful isnโ€™t it. I want to get so much done but my energy levels arenโ€™t great so can only do as much as I can …..

  6. I think we all suffer from self doubt. I have become withdrawn from people a little bit which I definitely need to fix. I hope you have a good 2018 ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I think I spend so much time thinking and planning how things could be easier or how we could be happier that we donโ€™t get round to the doing part. Iโ€™m always by the skin of my teeth!

  8. Yes I have a load of stuff to sell which I keep looking at – thatโ€™s about as far as Iโ€™ve got with it. Ha ha!

  9. Decluttering for me too. Iโ€™ve made a start, Iโ€™ve just got to finish it now x

  10. Itโ€™s hard though isnโ€™t it. Iโ€™ve got notebooks full of ideas that I havenโ€™t done anything with!
